ISBNPA 2012 Pre-Conference Workshop
“Parenting Measurement: Current Status and Consensus Reports”
Research on health promotion parenting is constrained by measures that differ in definitions, component constructs, and numbers and types of items. Conflicting findings in the literature may be due to differences in measures. Research on parenting aspects of child obesity prevention will more rapidly advance when consensus and validated measures are available. The 2012 ISBNPA Pre-Conference Meeting on Parenting Measurement will be action oriented. Investigators from several countries have been invited to address critical issues in the measurement of parenting style and practices (re: diet, physical activity, sedentary behaviors). Attendees will self-select into four working groups, which will take the next steps in designing and conducting the identified research and develop ties post conference through international collaborative programs.
Pre-Conference attendance is limited to 100 registrants to facilitate exchange of ideas and promote discussion among the attendees.
The conference will be held at the premier USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center in one of the US's biggest, most technologically advanced, most diverse, and FRIENDLIEST U.S. Cities...Houston. Houston, with 5.9 million residents, is the fourth most populous city in the United States, trailing only New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
